FOOD ENTHUSIASTS

By | August 22, 2017

Did you know that your body tells you what to eat or drink?

Consciously or unconsciously the body tries to communicate what it needs, when you are thirsty you need water but people like me who do not get thirsty, the body needs to send us other cues for us to be aware, example :you might feel a mild headache , fatigued or feel hungry even when you have just had a meal. That is definitely your body trying to ask for a glass or two of water. I have always thought that since I am a tea person like two cups of milk tea in the morning a cup of iced tea in the afternoon and a cup of hot detox tea in the evening I have taken care of my daily water requirements. Unfortunately this is not true actually tea and coffee can even make you more dehydrated. More on that in an upcoming post?

Being a food enthusiast since I was in high school I carried this passion with me to do hotel management and now currently pursuing nutrition. I like how food shapes us, it is our building blocks and also our fuel for smooth sailing throughout the day. The food we eat varies from one person to another but the motivation to selecting that meal is the same though . I am a first time blogger, I read a lot of blogs, books and watch food, health and fitness channels. I decided to start upishi.com since I realized we only see good looking food, learn how to make it but not aware of what it contains in terms of nutrients and calories and we are not sure if our body actually needs the meal.

All of us in some way are aware of what foods are good to which people, examples children need proteins for growth and carbohydrates for their high levels of physical activity, expectant mums need more liquids in their meals, proteins and carbohydrates minerals and vitamins they even need supplements, but not much of that is put into consideration when selecting and preparing our daily meals.

When I was growing up my mother used to make meals for us and I remember hungrily munching into sometimes meals and treats with more satisfaction than I would in the daily meals.

I will mostly be blogging about:

  • How to listen to our body’s needs and how to select food that caters for those needs, be it for ourselves or our families.
  • Taking a look at our favorite local and international meals and what they contain.
  •  Having yummy and nutritious meals with recipes and brief nutrient insert  prepared  by me at least every week.

Let’s make those daily meals yummy and eat them with the same excitement we indulge in the sometimes and treat meals. Every Friday in the afternoon a post will be up and we shall have the whole weekend interacting with you, feel free to drop me an email or even commenting on the post. All feedback is welcomed since this is a community for us to be in charge of our meal choices and make informed decisions about what our body needs.
I hope that this blog will help all of us who are faced with the dilemma of what to eat and wondering if it harms our body or is it what our body actually needs it?
